Shift safety handover

Structured shift-to-shift handover — your notes plus an auto-snapshot of everything open, closed by the incoming supervisor's acknowledgment and escalated after 12 hours if it isn't.

The notebook between shifts, structured — so nothing open gets lost at the boundary. A handover is the outgoing supervisor's notes plus an automatic snapshot of the plant's open items, and it stays flagged until the incoming shift acknowledges it.

Hand over the shift

  1. Go to Shift handover and fill in the Hand over the shift card: site, the outgoing shift label and supervisor, the incoming shift and supervisor (shift labels are free-form — Days, Nights, A, B, whatever your plant uses), and your notes for the incoming shift.
  2. Click Preview open items to see what the incoming shift will inherit before you commit.
  3. Click Create handover. The snapshot is captured at that moment and attached to the record.

Acknowledge the handover

  • Unacknowledged handovers show amber with an awaiting acknowledgment badge. The incoming supervisor clicks Acknowledge — that closes the loop, and it's audited.
  • Click Details on any row to read the notes and the full list of open items; each item links straight to its record.

What happens automatically

  • The snapshot is built for you from across the system — no re-typing at shift end:
  • A handover that is still unacknowledged 12 hours after creation escalates through the notification sweep, addressed to the named incoming supervisor.
  • The dashboard shows a Shift handovers unacknowledged count while any are open.

Tip: an empty snapshot is a good sign — the record will read "Nothing was open — a clean handover."
